C.E. Info Systems, the company behind MapmyIndia, has appointed Rohan Verma as joint managing director for a five-year term from 1 July 2026, subject to shareholder approval.
The Indian digital mapping and location technology company said Verma will focus on advancing its AI-led products and platforms across geospatial technology, the Internet of Things and other deep-tech areas.
Rakesh Verma, chairman and managing director of MapmyIndia, said “Rohan Verma will, along with the team, lead the advancement of the Company's AI-native deep-tech products and solutions, with a strategic focus on building future-ready, technology-driven innovations, leveraging AI, geospatial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT), and other advanced deep-tech technologies to address evolving customer and market needs.”
He added, “He will be responsible for driving the Company's brand, marketing and innovation agenda by identifying emerging technology and market opportunities, accelerating the development of next-generation products and platforms, and strengthening the Company's leadership in the AI, geospatial, IoT and deep-tech ecosystem. The Board is highly confident about the appointment of Mr. Rohan Verma as Joint Managing Director of the Company for creating sustainable value for all stakeholders.”
The company said Verma will also be responsible for its brand, marketing and innovation agenda, including identifying emerging technology and market opportunities and accelerating the development of next-generation products and platforms.
Verma has been associated with MapmyIndia since 2004, when he conceptualised and launched MapmyIndia.com while studying at Stanford University in the United States.
According to the company, he has played a key role in developing its technology platforms, products and strategic partnerships, while also contributing to the growth of its subsidiaries.
His appointment to the parent company’s executive leadership comes 15 months after he ceased to be CEO, whole-time director and key managerial personnel of C.E. Info Systems on 31 March 2025. From 1 April 2025, he took executive managing director roles at the company’s subsidiaries Vidteq (India) and Gtropy Systems.
In late 2024, MapmyIndia had approved a proposal to invest Rs 10 lakh for a 10% stake and a further Rs 35 crore through compulsorily convertible debentures in a proposed consumer-focused company to be formed by Verma.
The board later reversed its decision to make any equity or debt investment in the proposed company after investor feedback, while saying the Mappls retail brand and associated apps would remain with MapmyIndia.
Verma graduated from Stanford University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He later earned an MBA from London Business School in 2015.
The appointment comes as MapmyIndia continues to expand its location technology and mapping products across enterprise, government, automotive, mobility and consumer markets. During its May 2026 earnings call, Verma said Amazon Now had integrated MapmyIndia’s APIs and SDKs, meaning users of the quick-commerce service will see Mappls within the app.
