Digital health platform ekincare has acquired Superclaims, an AI-powered claims adjudication platform, as it looks to expand its role in India’s health insurance technology market.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Superclaims provides software for insurers and third-party administrators, or TPAs, to automate health insurance claim assessments. Its platform integrates with existing insurer and TPA systems through APIs, TMS integrations or a secure portal.

The company said its technology can cut claim-processing time to about 10 minutes from more than 300 minutes, while improving speed, accuracy and auditability.

ekincare said the acquisition would add an insurance layer to its healthcare platform, which already connects employers, employees and healthcare providers.

“Healthcare has traditionally evolved in silos. Employers manage benefits; providers deliver care, while insurers and TPAs process claims independently,” said Kiran Kalakuntla, co-founder and CEO of ekincare.

“We believe the future of healthcare lies in connecting these ecosystems through intelligence. Superclaims brings the missing insurance layer onto our platform, enabling us to build digital healthcare infrastructure that serves every stakeholder, from employers and employees to providers, insurers and TPAs,” he said.

The deal comes as India’s health insurance sector handles a rising volume of claims. According to IRDAI’s annual report for FY2024-25, general and health insurers settled 3.26 crore health insurance claims and paid Rs 94,248 crore towards claim settlements.

ekincare said the acquisition will help insurers and TPAs reduce manual work in a process that remains document-heavy and prone to delays.

Bhavish Ramaswamy, founder and CEO of Superclaims, said “At Superclaims, we’ve always believed that claims should be a source of confidence, not complexity. By using AI to automate one of healthcare’s most manual processes, we’ve helped insurers and TPAs make faster and more accurate decisions.”

“Joining ekincare enables us to take that impact further by connecting claims with the broader healthcare ecosystem, creating a more seamless experience for every stakeholder involved,” he added.

Maneesh Daithala, co-founder and CTO of Superclaims, said the company had built its platform to help insurers make “faster, more consistent, and explainable decisions”.

As part of the acquisition, Bhavish Ramaswamy, Maneesh Daithala and the wider Superclaims leadership team will continue in their roles and report to ekincare’s senior leadership, according to the company.

Superclaims will continue to operate as an independent brand while benefiting from ekincare’s platform and distribution network.

Hyderabad-based ekincare provides health benefits infrastructure for employers and said it covers more than two million lives across more than 1,000 corporates. Its network includes more than 90,000 healthcare providers across more than 500 cities.

The acquisition is expected to expand its presence among insurers and TPAs, deepen relationships with existing enterprise customers and create cross-selling opportunities across both businesses.

It also said the deal could support future expansion outside India as ekincare and Superclaims develop AI-powered software for insurance companies globally.
